PATH OF YOGA SCHOOL

300 HR YOGA TEACHER TRAINING

IN CHIANG MAI, THAILAND

JULY 23RD - AUGUST 25TH, 2023

A deep dive into the heart of practice

Join Ian LeMasters and James French for a 34 day advanced yoga teacher training in Thailand's northern province of Chiang Mai. This immersive experience held at Kaomai Lanna resort offers a unique opportunity to dive deep into the gross and subtle forms of the yoga practice while making lasting connections with a supportive group of fellow yogis. Each day of training is filled with pranayama and asana practice, meditation, practicum and lectures ranging from philosophy to in-depth anatomy study. In addition to days of training, there are several days to allow students to explore Chiang Mai at their leisure. Attending the full training grants eligibility for a 500hr teaching certification with Yoga Alliance for vinyasa yoga (previous 200hr certification required).

ABOUT KAOMAI LANNA RESORT

Kaomai Lanna Hotel and Resort is a unique boutique accommodation on the route from Chiang Mai to Doi Inthanon, the highest mountain in Thailand. Surrounded by a big, beautiful tropical garden in Chiang Mai, the resort features unique rooms converted from real tobacco curing barns and furnished with colonial style antique furniture as well as an on site restaurant, spa, yoga shala and pool.

50 years ago the tobacco industry in the northern part of Thailand reached its peak, and tobacco farms and curing barns flourished. But time passed and things changed. 30 years later other developments came; the tobacco curing barns faded from the northern part of Thailand, replaced by orchards and real-estate projects. Most of the barns were destroyed but it was decided that at least a few reminders from the old days should be preserved. 18 old barns were converted into 36 lively guestrooms in a peaceful garden and became known as the charming Kaomai Lanna Resort. Consequently, the property was awarded the UNESCO Asia-Pacific award in 2018 for  "Cultural heritage conservation in new design in heritage contexts".

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

300 HOURS OF IN-DEPTH TRAINING

Each day consists of a 2 hour morning asana practice followed by lecture, practicum and pranayama spread through out the day. Although the exact material presented each day will change as the training develops, each day "on" will be guaranteed to offer new challenges and opportunity for growth as we explore ourselves through the practice of yoga.

JAMES FRENCH

Founder and head teacher of the Path of Yoga School, James was born in London and first discovered yoga in 2003. However, he truly caught the yoga-bug a few years later, during sunrise practices overlooking the rooftops of Udaipur with an old yogi named Prakash.

Following a martial-arts incurred neck injury, he was told that surgery was the only option. However he resisted and experienced an amazing recovery through his Yoga practice. He soon returned to India to train and embark on his path as a Yoga Teacher.

James has taught on over 15 YTTs  and has received over 1000 hours of training, including two separate 300-hour qualifications – one with his main Asana teacher, Jason Crandell.  His other major influences are Max Strom, Yogrishi Vishvketu, David Swenson, Christopher Wallis and his guru, Sri Prem Baba.

His classes involve a challenging, creative flow with focus on strength, stability and alignment to attain states of union between mind, body and spirit. James has a particular interest in Psycho-spiritual work, and the way that emotions and are stored in the body and how we can release them to promote deeper well being and healing. He also incorporates the more subtle, energetic aspects of Hatha Yoga as a route to healing and inner peace.

He has taught all over the world, but loves to return to his hometown of London every summer where he teaches at some of his favourite studios including Triyoga.
